Greetings from WET, WET Haiti!!!
It wasn't long ago I was praising God that the rains had stopped. And we WERE happy. But then along came tropical storm Noel!!! So many things could have been worse... it could have developed into a hurricane (although hurricane season is "officially" over). As a tropical storm, Noel did do a lot of damage where it went. Here in our area we had a lot of rain, an over abundance actually! Roads are quagmires and the holes are filled with water, so you aren't sure what you will hit!! We lost a few limbs from trees, but nothing that did damage. Don saw on the internet where quite a few people have lost their lives, but not in this area. So, although overly saturated, we are none the worse for wear.
The one thing this storm did was to cancel our MFI flights, both Tuesday (yesterday) and Thursday (tomorrow). The storm is sitting in the Bahamas and we can't fly through it. MFI is praying the can come in on Friday, for we have almost 40 passengers to get out. Yes, it will take two planes. And it will be a long day, for sure!! One flight has to go to Pignon and back and then fly out. Those days end up being very long for us.
We have ONE bit of good news. Don is out of the boot for the first time today. He is doing good. He will still take precautions but for the most part, that problem is over.
Still no news on our grandson's papers from Port au Prince, so please keep praying. It is so hard to be positive when things are stagnated like this. Yet, we know God is in control.
Please, also pray for two of our children! Our oldest (Todd) and our youngest (Christine). Both are facing some major health issues and need a lot of prayers. It is VERY difficult being so far away when you want to be there for them. This is the hardest part (for me) being in Haiti. You never outgrow motherhood!!
Keep soggy, soaked, waterlogged Haiti in your prayers. People are in some pretty bad situations right now.
Till we talk again.... God bless and keep smiling!!!

Karen and Don. So glad to hear that you are all okay. We were wondering and praying. I know you said you didn't really need any more rain. Glad to hear that Don is out of his BOOT. Just take it slow Don and don't hurt yourself again. Sorry about Todd and Christine. Hope they get along okay. We will be praying for them. Also the situation with the papers for your new grandson. I know how exasperating it can be to wait for papers. Take care and God Bless.
